Among other telling figures from that wondrous summer of 1950, are the nearly eight hundred Dianetics Counseling Groups said to have sprung up like “wild flowers” across the American landscape. The figure is accurate; included residents from every major city and ultimately meant more than a quarter of a million citizens venturing into that terra incognita half an inch behind their foreheads. Presented here are two letters suggestive of how those groups came to be, and an LRH note on the further utilization of Dianetics within the judicial arena. As a small point of interest, the Beaumont, Texas hospital where Dianetics so thoroughly took root was an all Black institution and famously so.
